Be aware that most of the "Saving" messages in the upper-right corner of the screen are "false" messages. The Autosave feature of the game can support a limited amount of slots. I can't confirm this personally, but you may want to try that if you don't have better options. Moreover, some people have found that using a USB external device to save your data, instead of the regular HDD for your console, can solve the freezing issues.
Installing the game onto the HDD is recommended to cut away part of the problems that occur with the loading screens (by the way, it's not a problem with your copy if it lags when it "Autosaves," we all have it). Freezing issues: a relatively large amount of people have experienced freezing issues with this game.
